Client: Margaritaville at Sea
Completion Date: 2022
In December 2021, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville announced a partnership with Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line to rebrand the Grand Classica as Margaritaville at Sea Paradise—adding the first Margaritaville cruise ship to it’s existing chain of restaurants and resorts. The cruise line turned to yazi to assist in the re-design of the wayfinding onboard and help re-brand the vessel to the Margaritaville standards.
A QUICK CONVERSION
In January 2022, the Grand Classica sailed to the Grand Bahama Shipyard for a rebranding and refit of the ship’s interiors and venues to be themed under the Margaritaville brand. We had less than 5 months until the inaugural cruise, which meant the complex conversion needed to be completed in record time. An expert team was assembled to design and execute the complete re-branding of the vessel. We worked closely with The McBride Company, who are responsible for the interior design of all the Margaritaville properties, to create graphic solutions that could be implemented both quickly and effectively within the allocated budget and short time frame.
GETTING IT DONE
We created all of the final specification documents, as well as all of the actual artwork needed to fabricate the new signs. To insure success, we collaborated closely with an experienced local sign fabricator SFY Architectural, who worked around the clock to build and deliver the new signs. Most of the existing signs were retrofitted with new Margaritaville themed graphic panels, and new directories and directional signs were added to improve the visitor experience. All of the life safety signs onboard required updating, and all of the public room identity signs were replaced with the new Margaritaville branded signs that we helped to develop.
